Southeast quadrant- 
ZIP code 92009 features several new master-planned communities set among hillsides, golf courses, Alga Norte Community Park and open spaces. Residents here are served by the Carlsbad Unified School District, San Marcos Unified School District and the Encinitas School District. It is located east of El Camino Real and south of Palomar Airport Road. It includes the La Costa neighborhood, which in 1965 gave its name to the Gold Medal Golf Resort, La Costa Resort and Spa, now known as the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.

ZIP code 92010 consists mostly of single-family homes, with larger lots found in the older area known as Chestnut Hills. It is located east of El Camino Real and north of Palomar Airport Road.

Northwest quadrant- ZIP code 92008 includes the downtown "Village," the Barrio, and "Old Carlsbad." It was the first part of Carlsbad to be settled. Homes range from 1950s cottages and bungalows to elegant mansions on the hill overlooking the ocean. It is also home to Hosp Grove Park, a grove of trees relatively untouched by development and now designated by the city for recreational use, in addition to the Buena Vista and Agua Hedionda Lagoons. It is located west of El Camino Real and north of Palomar Airport Road.

BlueMercury at the Forum

BlueMercury is located at the Forum in Carlsbad. Loved the small spa like feel of the store. The knowledgeable staff is nothing but friendly and helpful!  Lot's of stock of my faves such as Laura Mercier, Bobby Brown, Kiels to name a few.

Better BUZZ coffee

Better Buzz coffee is located in downtown Encinitas, 578 S Coast Hwy 101.

A busy place to watch life go by... I loved it.
They have a huge selection of coffees, and baked goods.
I ordered a dark roast cup of coffee that came in a huge ceramic mug. The staff is friendly and attentive. Dog friendly too!

I must admit I was skeptical when I first walked into a Flashbacks store. I was with my teenage daughter on the hunt for a tie dye t-shirt. There were many to choose from. What I didn't expect was the big designer names available to choose from. Tory Burch, Trina Turk, Nannette Lepore, to name a few. All great quality, no holes, stains etc. 

The staff is super helpful, the store is organized and well stocked. You can even get cash right away for your clothes or more if you trade.

Urban Plates

What a relief that The Forum Carlsbad included Urban Plates as a new restaurant. It is hard to believe this farm to table restaurant is considered "fast food." Don't let the cafeteria style fool you. The food is fresh, the portions are generous, and prices that won't break the bank.

The Forum Carlsbad

The Forum in Carlsbad is located at 1923 Calle Barcelona in Carlsbad. 
The great stores make up for the tight parking spots. It houses such brands as Anthropologie, LuluLemon, Sur La Table, Ulta, Bed Bath & Beyond and the Apple Store to name a few.

The outdoor shopping center has nice fountains with koi ponds and sculptures and great places to sit and watch the shoppers with a cup of coffee.
There are a variety of restaurants as well as a natural grocer, Jimbos...Naturally.

Solterra Winery & Kitchen

On a recent date night we went to Solterra Winery & Kitchen.  It is an urban winery located at 

934 N Coast Hwy 101, 

Encinitas, CA 92024. 

As their website says, the grapes are sourced from Sonoma county, Lake County, Paso Robles, San Diego County, and Baja Mexico. 

There are lots of choices of places to sit and enjoy the great ambience. We chose a great spot at the bar. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and the food arrived in a timely manner. We ordered the Charcuterie & Cheese Platter It was perfect choice to go with our bottle of Dry Creek Valley 2012 Merrah.

I highly recommend Solterra and will definitely be going back soon!

Fur Reel Pet Grooming

Fur Reel Pet Grooming is located in a bright pink building at 1114 N Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024. (760) 944-7009

I found this groomer through a recommendation of a friend of mine. Julie the owner is welcoming and did a fantastic job grooming my dog. In a few hours she was picked up, happy, and the cost was very reasonable! I have found my new groomer!

La Paloma Theatre

Get out and see a movie at La Paloma Theatre in downtown Encinitas. It is a single screen venue that has been around since 1928. It was one of the first to show "talkies." It has a vintage, low-key vibe. A great place to go for date night to see a surf movie, independent film or the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture show. Check here for show times.

Batiquitos Lagoon

The Batiquitos Lagoon is in north San Diego County. It is one of the few remaining tidal wetlands on the southern coast of the United States. Located between Carlsbad and Encinitas, the lagoon is managed as a wildlife preserve by the California Department of Fish and Game. This lagoon is home to several protected nesting areas. 
There is a 3.5 mile (easy to walk) sandy trail along the lagoon.

Yoga Tropics  is the place to practice and have a great hot yoga experience. They offer a huge variety of classes and times, the instructors are supportive and the location can't be beat.The main studio is located at 830 S Coast Highway 101, and the Yoga Tropics West studio is  at 965 Second St. Encinitas, California.
